The South Loop Home Depot
The South Loop Home Depot project incorporates a two-story design with a rooftop parking deck, four elevators, two escalators and a covered loading dock. Glenn H. Johnson Construction Company's scope of work as the General Contractor totaled $28,000,000.
The building structure includes 1,522,200 pounds of structural steel. This amount of steel is enough to build 21 typical Home Depot buildings. 3,494,166 pounds of steel H-Piles were used to support the building.
Eighty-one percent of the total construction waste produced was recycled or diverted from landfills through various means of re-use. The design included a green roof, rainwater reuse for landscape irrigation, low volatile organic compound sealants/coatings and regionally manufactured building materials.
This project complies with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) approaches developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. It accrued 33 LEED points, earning a Silver rating.
