The Chapel of Lake County
In January of 2000, while outgrowing their temporary home at Grayslake High School, The Chapel of Lake County formed a Building Committee, interviewed various architects and contractors, and then selected The Glenn H. Johnson Construction Co. to design and construct their facilities. To remain within their budget our work included:
- Demolition of a barn, silo and 7 smaller buildings
- Complete development of a 70-acre site
- A 30,000 gallon underground water storage tank for the fire sprinklers
- Both wet and dry detention basins
- A Wisconsin Mound Septic System with (2) 6,000-gallon holding tanks and a 10,000-gallon lift station
- An 8” well drilled 300’ deep
- A floor area of 55,000 square feet expandable to 110,000 square feet
- Full basement with 15’ high foundation walls
- A sanctuary with seating for 1,000 and designed expansion capabilities for 2,500 people
- 72” deep roof trussed spanning 125’ providing clear views for everyone in the sanctuary
- A state of the art HVAC and CO2 Digital Control System
- Full multimedia audio and visual delivery system
